This interesting Quartz crystal gets its color from numerous fine "phantom" layers of Epidote, in otherwise clear Quartz. We have had "first pick," of this material for over 10 years. It is found in a remote central, northern area of Madagascar, at a location that also produces gem quality Titanite (aka Sphene). The form of this crystal is particularly neat because it seems to only have three sides. Looking down its C-axis, (from the top-down) one can see how the typical six-sided crystal "evolved," into the three sided, elongated specimen.
