This crystal cluster is bright, gemmy and a floater to boot! Hessonites from the Jeffrey have such a distinctive color, that when they are as good as this piece, they glow. The internal clarity makes this garnet look great even in low light, where it takes on a richer cognac color. The Jeffrey mine has been closed to collecting for many years, as I've heard NASA has leased it to mine asbestos for use in their heat shields. It's in remarkable condition without any visible damage.
